The cardinal numbers are used in the following cases:
The cardinal number preceded by the indefinite article (uno, un, una) means “about the number we are talking about”
Una dozzina = a dozen
Una tredicina = about 13
It is composed by the indefinite article number + the radical of the number + the ending ina
migliaio = about a thousand
centinaio= about a hundred
After 100 numbers only 1,000 and 100 use this form while the others number are formed with the word circa + the number
EX una decina di persone
about ten persons
EX un centinaio di animali
About a thousand animals
